What they are…
Every year, I try to seek out representatives to help expand my portfolio and gain a little more of a following on social media. Sometimes this is solely because I found a new technique that is a little too extra for a standard photo session, and other times it’s because I have the time and I truly love photography.
How much do these sessions cost?
Well, because of the way I run my program, there are a limited number of FREE SESSIONS! The sessions that I offer through this program are the basic packages, but regardless, you are getting a deal. I hand select the winners of the free sessions based on the applications that I receive throughout the duration of the program. If you are chosen as a Winner, your session is free.
I do, often, offer a limited number of runner-up sessions, which are steeply discounted. These range from $75 - $100. The runner’s up will be notified at the same time as the winners. If you are chosen as a runner up, you are under no obligation to accept the discounted session.
How do I get in?
I spend a lot of time trying to write humorous and productive blog posts, this is where you will get the inside scoop as for timelines and “go-live” dates. I post the information on various social media platforms as well. Once you see that the Rep Session you would like to apply for has gone live, it’s a pretty simple process. Click “Apply” and you will be directed to a short questionnaire. Fill it out, click submit, and wait to hear the results. I will announce the winners on my Blog, Website Home Page, and Socials.
Do I have to hustle my friends and family to get a better deal?
Black Owl Images will never require you to refer a friend to get more money off of your session, because my Rep Sessions are completely free. It is, however, required that you give a shout out or a photo credit if you choose to post to social media after our shoot.
What’s the catch?
There really isn’t one. Ok...so there are a few things we should discuss. First off, you will not have the option to opt out of having your photos posted on my website & socials. Most of the time, my clients don’t seem to mind regardless if they are a representative or not. The paperwork required for the Rep Sessions is just a little different from my standard paperwork. I will not be offering prints on these sessions, but rather you will retain a copy of the images and a print release document. I do have a few recommendations of places to get prints, but you are under no obligation to use them.
So, it’s that easy?
Yes. yes. YES! I wanted the process to be smooth. I didn’t want to make any one of my representatives feel obligated to market for me, I don’t think that should be a part of the process. I want to create beautiful portraits, and build up my portfolio.
What if I don’t like the photos?
Unfortunately, this is one of the other ways The Rep Sessions differs from a regular booked and paid shoot. Of course offering free photo sessions comes at a bit of a cost, but with no real catch...I retain all creative freedom during the shoot. I love input from my clients, but these sessions are also about my work. This includes trying new techniques and poses, and getting a little more adventurous than in a traditional shoot.
Wait! I already booked and pre-paid for a shoot with you! Can I get my deposit back?
Because this is kind of an ambiguous case, I will roll the free session over onto your session date. This is one time that your non-refundable deposit will be refunded.
Can I tell my friends to apply too?
Of course, the more the merrier.
How do you choose a winner?
It is really important that you take time and answer the few questions that I have on the application. I read through every response, and I choose those who I see most fit for the sessions.
I don’t like the photos from this session, and I want to do more. Can I book an additional shoot?
Of course. However if you are booking under regular circumstances, then you will need to prepay a nonrefundable deposit.
When do I need to use my free session?
You will need to use your session by the end of 2019.
Can I use my images on social media?
Absolutely. It is, however, required (and appreciated) that you give a shout out to Black Owl Images in your post.
Can I bring a friend?
You are allowed to bring one person with you to your session, however it is not required. Whoever you bring with is not permitted to be photographed during your session, unless you have been selected for a couples Rep Session, or have purchased add-on's for your session.
How far can we travel for the free session?
I prefer to keep the shoot close to the Fargo-Moorhead area. There are plenty of beautiful spaces close by! If you have an idea of a location that isn't exactly "in" town - feel free to bring it up and we can discuss the feasibility of the location. If it is the only location you'd like - we can address the option of adding an upgraded fee for travel.
Can I add on to the shoot?
Any additional time, outfit changes, travel, etc can be added on to your Rep Session for the standard fee of that option. We can go over the additional costs during our first meeting.
Can I transfer the session to someone else?
Unfortunately the session is nontransferable. If you are unable to use the session, please let me know as soon as possible - so I can select a new representative for my brand.
Am I able to change the time/date after I book?
One reschedule will be authorized. Be sure to communicate any changes as soon as possible so we can make arrangements.
I forgot about my shoot that was scheduled, now what?
Unfortunately due to limited availability, if you are deemed a no call/no show for your session, your session will be canceled and you will be blacklisted from being a representative..
If you still would like me to shoot your photos, you are welcome to book a session. Remember that my sessions do require a deposit at the time of booking.
